'DO YOU WANT ONE'
ONGOING
'Give me time to think, give me time to find hope.’
Do you want one? Is a poetic quest through the region of the Luberon, South of France, with the goal to portray the eco anxiety and the constant questioning of a lot of people of Emma’s generation, I want to be a mother but should I? How much is there left for a next generation?
Her nieces alongside her mother and her partner are the main protagonists wandering through the landscapes. This place is where her brother lives with his two daughters and used to be a safe heaven for the artist, but has slowly become anxiogenic, the more the effect of climate change can be seen. Watching her nieces grow up there is making her eco anxiety grow with them. You can’t really grasp the protagonists, especially the kids, only their absence, them running away like the future we struggle to grasp.
Through the series you’ll see images of the Cavalon, a river that’s almost always completely dry during summer, with just a small puddle of green stale water, left from a flood that happened the previous winter. You’ll also see the dance of three ‘Canadaire’, sadly famous yellow and red small planes used to put out wildfires. You cannot see the fire, only the macabre dance of the planes.
The poetry of the images expresses one feeling, ‘le peu’, there isn’t a lot left. But there is, and the question is, is there enough?
And then the only face you see, eyes looking at you, so what should we do?
